Wine note: The town of Vinci is home to the world class wines of Cantine Leonardo Da Vinici. A cooperative of 200 individual growers. Nestled between Florence, Pisa and Siena in the Chianti region of Tuscany, Cantine Leonardo DaVini produces outstanding wines from hillside vineyards tended for generations. Expertly crafted, DaVinci Chianti is crimson red with intense aromas of ripe fruit and flavors of fresh strawberry and plum.
I highly recommend the San Francisco Wine School to everyone who want to learn more about wine. David Glancy is an excellent instructor/teacher and they have wonderful study programs. Visit their website at: http://sanfranciscowineschool.com/
What a great pair this is of food and wine. 2012 Underwood, Pinot Noir, Oregon Grown paired with chocolate chip cookie. I find the fruit forward wine such as this has enough fruit sweetness to balance the cookie and yet just enough acid to cleansed the palate. I baked the chocolate chip and added a little amount of salt. Make sure this hint of salt is added in order to balance with the Pinot Noir from Oregon.
